Remainder Vs Reminder

A learner usually gets confused between the two words, ‘remainder’ and ‘reminder’.

Remainder is related to remaining and reminder is related to mind.

Remainder:

Remainder is something leftover.

For example if number 43 is divided by 4 we get 10 as quotient and 3 as remainder.

                     4) 43 (10
                      ______
                          3
                      ______
“Stella drank the remainder of her tea and left the restaurant.”

  • The remainder means the things that are left when everything else has gone.

  • The remainder means the people who are left when everyone else has gone.

  • The remainder means the things that are left when everything else has been dealt with.

  • The remainder means the people who are left when everyone else has been dealt with.

Reminder:

  • Reminder is something that makes someone to remember something.

  • Reminder is a message sent to remind someone to complete a job assigned within stipulated time.

  • Also, reminder is something that makes someone to remember something else.

“This old bicycle is the reminder of my father, who maintained it properly for about seventy years and used to ride it everywhere for business.”

Reminder is a message sent to remind someone to do something.

“James sent a reminder to Joseph to complete his pending job.”
