Affect is usually a verb.
1. To influence someone or something, or cause them to change.
- It’s a disease which affects many younger people.
- The noise affects my performance.
- The problem affects everyone.
2. To cause a strong emotion, especially sadness (often passive).
- The house was affected by the fire.
- He was deeply affected by the film.
- The people are affected by flood.
Effect is usually a noun.
A change, reaction, or result that is caused by something.
- The promotion had a huge effect on his life.
- Effects of the flood are destructive.
Effect as a verb:
To make something happen.
- The quit India movement effected a huge change.
